About our Yarn
At Pagewood Farm our goal has always been to maintain handcrafted quality in all of our products.. All of our hand dyed yarns come to us undyed from small mills that follow our exacting yarn specifications. Each yarn blend has been tested and retested before it becomes a part of the Pagewood Farm line. Every skein Pagewood Farm yarn is hand dyed in San Pedro, California, USA and all of our processing is done locally using handcrafting techniques. We stand behind our products unconditionally. Each of our yarn blends is available in any of our colorways. Custom colors may be available on special orders. Our yarns are hand dyed in small batches. Colorways of the skeins may vary from batch to batch, and sometimes will vary within the batch depending on fiber blend, weather conditions and the very nature of hand dyeing. As a result your Pagewood Farm yarn will be a unique, one-of-a-kind product.
We proudly present the following Pagewood Farm yarns:
Yukon
Hand Dyed Sock Yarn
Fiber: Merino Superwash/Bamboo/Nylon (70/20/10)
Weight: 3.8 oz
Yards: 450
Gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
Needle: 1-3 US; 2.25-2.75 mm
Our Yukon sock yarn is a perfect example of a winning combination. The merino superwash gives it washability (hand wash or machine wash gentle cycle). The nylon gives it wearability(no holes in these heels). And the bamboo makes it soft and lofty and gives it that “sheen.” And our 450-yard skeins give you plenty of yarn for a full pair of socks. Colorways in the Yukon tend to be soft and almost muted but with that bamboo “sheen.” It’s no wonder that Yukon continues to be one of our top sellers.
Denali
Hand Dyed Sock Yarn
Fiber: Merino Superwash / Nylon (80/20)
Weight: 4.0 oz
Yards: 450
Gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
Needle: 1-3 US; 2.25-2.75 mm
Take away the bamboo, add a little more nylon and superwash and you’ve got our Denali sock yarn. It is a little denser than the Yukon but is still very soft and lofty in its own right. Colorways tend to be a little less muted than the Yukon. For those traditionalists that are suspicious of bamboo as a yarn ingredient, Denali is a perfect replacement. Like our other sock yarns our 450-yard skeins give you plenty of length for a full pair of socks. And Denali is washable (hand wash or machine wash gentle cycle.)
Chugiak
Hand Dyed Sock Yarn
Fiber: 100% Merino Superwash 2-ply tight twist
Weight: 4.0 oz
Yards: 450
Gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
Needle: 1-3 US; 2.25-2.75 mm
Some old school sock knitters swear that you can’t get good wear in the heels if you don’t have a nylon blend. Well, they never tried Chugiak. This 2-ply superwash yarn has such a tight twist that all of our testers say it wears like it had nylon. Chugiak is a tight enough twist that you can substitute it for lace weight in some projects. Did we tell you about the color? Pagewood Farm colorways absolutely “POP” in our Chugiak. Something about the absorption rate of the 100% merino makes the colors deeper, richer and more vibrant. 450-yard skeins enough for a full pair of socks. Washable (hand wash or machine wash gentle cycle.)
Glacier Bay
Hand Dyed Sock Yarn
Fiber: 100% Merino Superwash 3-ply
Weight: 5.5 oz
Yards: 450
Gauge: 6 _ stitches per inch
Needle: 3 US; 2.75 mm
We took our Chugiak and added another ply to make it Glacier Bay a 3-ply. It is our thickest, baddest sock yarn . Lots of “Pop” in all the colorways. It is thick enough that you can use it as an ultra light worsted. 450-yard skeins for a full pair of socks. Washable (hand wash or machine wash gentle cycle.)
St. Elias
Hand Dyed Sock Yarn
Fiber: Bluefaced Leicester/ Nylon (80/20)
Weight: 4.0 oz
Yards: 450
Gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
Needle: 1-3 US; 2.25-2.75 mm
Maybe it was our spinning background; but we got really excited when we had the opportunity to add a bluefaced leicester blend to our line. It is by far the loftiest yarn in our lineup. And no matter how much we process it, it still smells a little like sheep. It is a wonderful yarn to knit with. Did we say that 450-yard skeins give you plenty of length for a full pair of socks? This isn’t a superwash so make sure to hand wash.
Alyeska
Hand Dyed Sock Yarn
Fiber: Merino Superwash / Cashmere/Nylon (80/10/10)
Weight: 4.0 oz
Yards: 360
Gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
Needle: 1-3 US; 2.25-2.75 mm
How much will 10% cashmere affect a 4 oz skein of sock yarn? Grab a skein of Alyeska and you will be amazed. It is so soft and fun to knit. 360 yards is still enough to knit a pair of socks. The superwash gives it washability (hand wash or machine wash gentle cycle.) and the nylon gives it wearability.
Willow Creek
Hand Dyed Lace Weight Yarn
Fiber: 100% Merino Superwash 2-ply
Available Weight/Yards:
1 lb-2700 yards; 8 oz-1350 yards; 4 oz-675 yards

Needle: 1-2 US; 2.25-2.5 mm
We developed Willow Creek in response to a continuing demand for a true lace weight hand dyed yarn. We use our special process to dye it in one pound lots. This helps to ensure that there will be a strong color integrity for the whole 1 lb lot. We pass that along by offering 4 oz, 8 oz and 1 lb skeins so that you have a certain amount of color stability no matter how large your project. Available in all of our colorways. Ask for our tone on tone colors. Washable (hand wash or machine wash gentle cycle.)
Tundra
Hand Dyed DK Weight Yarn
Fiber: 70% Silk/30% Camel
Available Weight/Yards:
165 yards 1.75 oz
Gauge: 9-10 Stitches per inch
Needle: 6-7 US;
In our search for a DK weight yarn we found this silk/camel blend to be the perfect weight and feel. The surprise at the softness of this blend makes people’s eyes light up and their faces break into a wide grin. Our pattern designer was delighted to find that no matter how many times she pulled out a row, Tundra was like it was when she started. Tundra is dyed in one pound skeins (yielding 11 skeins, enough for a sweater) so that you don’t have the normal problem of matching hand dyed yarn from different batches..
Kiana
Hand Dyed 5-ply Light Worsted Yarn
Fiber: 100% Merino Superwash
Available Weight/Yards:
1 lb-1125 yards; 8 oz-562 yards; 3.4 oz-225 yards
Gauge: 4.5 Stitches per inch
Needle: 7-8 US; 4.5-5.4 mm
So we took a look at our 2-ply lace weight and asked ourselves “how many plies to make a worsted?” Our answer was 5 and that was the answer to the many requests we’ve had for a worsted weight hand dyed yarn. Lots of people wanted a sweater in the Pagewood colorways. Kiana was the answer to their requests. Dyed in 1 lb lots to give you unparalleled color integrity in a hand dyed. And we sell it in skeins, super skeins and 1 lb Jumbo skeins.
